Is a Dental Vacation Realistic

by on February 3, 2010

Is a dental vacation realistic? That is a very fair question one should ask themselves when considering going on the health adventure that is a dental vacation.
A large part of this answer depends and things: 1) What treatment do you need to have done? 2) Are you willing to do some leg work planning?
The first question, what treatment do you need to have done, is one that will determine an estimated savings and tell you if you can potentially save enough to fianace a vacation. For instance if you need to have a couple of fillings done, there would be a saving by having it done in a country like Mexico. But, you would not save enough to finance a vacation. If you need some more significant treatment like 2 or more crowns or some cosmetic smile enhancements now you will start to see enough savings where it can pay for your trip. Obviously the greater your needs the greater the savings.
The second question, are you willing to do some leg work, addresses your willingness to do some research. To consider dental tourism an individual has to realize they need to get a diagnosis from a dentist in their home country then contact a dentist in a foreign country to start to get a comparison and estimate savings that can be realized. Then you need to plan your visits for care and plan the “fun” vacation agenda around those treatment visits.
The dental vacation can definitely be done. Just be ready to do a little research.
